fossil fuel replacements
Key Facts
4% of Africa’s land mass can replace total world oil.
Production
The main steps in our process are:
1. Steam Explosion
2. Hydrolysis
3. Fermentation
4. Purification
5. Digestion
1. Steam Explosion
During this process, the biomass goes into a chamber with high pressure steam, which disintegrates the matter.
2. Hydrolysis
The cellulosic matter undergoes hydrolysis, turning it into saccarides.
3. Fermentation
The mono-saccarides and glucose are then fermented together, and turned into ethanolic liquid, which is then distilled into ethanol.
4. Purification
Wet lignin (from the cellulose hydrolysis process) is then purified.
5. Digestion
Organic material (from the cellulose hydrolysis process) is then digested to make biogas and fertilizer.
